  1. SQL Server Profiler Disadvantages & Resolutions (Ray Maor, DBA-Services)

There are all kind of problems when working with SQL Server Profiler. For example:

1. There is no query hashing, so it cannot recognize similar queries or query groups

2. It's unable to recognize & re-run different prepared statements

3. It's not very useful in tracking cursor operations (e.g. sp_opencursor, sp_execute, sp_prepexec)

In this session, Ray is going to talk about these problems as well as others, and he will demonstrate how they can be solved using Qure Profiler, a product of DBSophic Pro.

Ray Maor is a senior DBA consultant at DBA-Services. He has 15 years working as a DBA, specializing in performance tuning. He is also the architect & director of R&D of DBSophics tools for automatic performance implementation: Qure Optimizer, Qure Profiler & Qure Analyzer.

  1. Back to Basics - Locks Behind the Scenes (Dubi Lebel)

In a lot of sessions on performance improvements we heard about locks, lock management, lock mechanisms, lock escalation and more. What’s really going on behind the scenes? Do you really monitor all types of locks? Are all theories regarding locks will still be correct after drilling down into the mechanism?

Dubi Lebel is a DBA - Don't Bother Asking.
