  1. Optimize Your SQL Server Operation using the Big Data Ecosystem (Tzahi Hakikat,Agoda)

Thailand is known as the industry leader in sex change operations. 18 months ago, Tzahi has relocated to Thailand and was forced to change his gender from a guy born and raised in the Microsoft shop to someone swimming in the dark cold Linux water. The conversion was not easy at all, and he still thinks that the so called big data ecosystem is still miles away from our beloved SQL Server data platform. But... a few months past the Linux shock, Tzahi discovered a few free open source projects that can dramatically improve your SQL Server operation. We will review projects, such as Grafana and Graphite, Twitter Data Temperature Tool, Puppet, Elastic Search and more...

Tzahi Hakikat (Twitter) is aSQL Server 6.5 MCP.

Why is a memory optimized table not the same as just having a table in the cache? What is a hash index and when will it be useful? How important is the number of buckets in a hash index? Are we guaranteed to have performance boost if we use In-Memory tables? What considerations should we take into account when we use In-Memory tables? Hopefully, this presentation will answer these questions...

Adi Cohn (Twitter) started working as a programmer (using VB5 and Access 2.0) during the 90s. He was introduced to SQL Server 6.5 and started working as a DBA. Some people say that he even managed to learn a few things as a DBA. Personally, he hopes that they are correct...
